PREFACE

This special issue of Discussiones Mathematice Graph Theory (DMGT) is dedicated to selected papers presented at the 13th Workshop on Graph Theory: Colourings, Independence and Domination (CID) held on 18-23 September 2009 in Szklarska Poręba, Poland. It continues a series of international workshops: 1993-1997 in Lubiatów, 1998-2001 in Gronów, and 2003-2007 in Karpacz. The meeting was organized by the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Econometrics, under the auspice of Rector of University of Zielona Góra. The 13th Workshop CID was partially sponsored by the Committee on Mathematics of Polish Academy of Sciences and the International Visegrad Fund. About 95 participants formed the audience of the following invited lectures:

Andreas Brandstädt (University of Rostock, Germany) On Independent Vertex Sets and Induced Matchings,

Jan Kratochvíl (Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic) Distance Constrained Graph Labeling: From Frequency Assignment to Graph Homomorphisms,

Douglas F. Rall (Furman University, Greenville, USA) Recent Work on Vizing's Conjecture,

André Raspaud (Université Bordeaux, Talence, France) Star Coloring of Graphs,

Zsolt Tuza (Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest and University of Pannonia, Veszprém, Hungary) New Types of Problems on Hypergraph Coloring,

Margit Voigt (University of Applied Sciences, Dresden, Germany) List Colorings of Graphs,

Adam P. Wojda (AGH University of Technology, Kraków, Poland) Cyclic Partitions of Complete Uniform Hypergraphs

and 68 contributed talks.

The papers included in this special issue were refereed according to the standards of DMGT. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the authors for their valuable contribution and the anonymous referees for their commitment and dedication.
