PREFACE
This special issue of Discussiones Mathematice Graph Theory (DMGT) is dedicated to selected papers presented at the 12th Workshop on Graph Theory: Colourings, Independence and Domination (CID) held on 16-21 September 2007 in Karpacz, Poland. The meeting was organized by the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Econometrics under the auspice of Rector of University of Zielona Góra and was partially sponsored by the Committee on Mathematics of Polish Academy of Sciences. It continues a series of international workshops: 1993-1997 in Lubiatów, 1998-2001 in Gronów, 2003 and 2005 in Karpacz. About 70 participants formed the audience of six invited lectures
Stanislav Jendrol' (Pavol Jozef Safárik University, Košice, Slovakia)
Light graphs - a survey
Zbigniew Lonc (Warsaw University of Technology, Poland)
Small transversals in hypergraphs
Dieter Rautenbach (Technische Universität Ilmenau, Germany)
Recent results on domination and related parameters in regular graphs of large girth
Éric Sopena (Université Bordeaux, Talence, France)
Colorings of oriented graphs
Zsolt Tuza (Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest and University of Pannonia, Veszprem, Hungary)
Recent results on hypergraph coloring
Douglas B. West (University of Illinois, Urbana, USA)
Three topics in edge-coloring: circular, interval, and parity edge-colorings
and 68 contributed talks.
The papers included in this special issue were refereed according to the standards of DMGT. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the authors for their valuable contributions and the anonymous referees for their commitment and dedication.
