PREFACE

This special issue of Discussiones Mathematice Graph Theory (DMGT) is dedicated to selected papers presented at the 10th Workshop on Graph Theory: Colourings, Independence and Domination (CID) held on 22-26 September 2003 in Karpacz, Poland. The meeting was organized by the Faculty of Science (now Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Econometrics), University of Zielona Góra. It continues a series of annual international workshops in mathematics with a section of graph theory (1993-1997 in Lubiatów and 1998-2001 in Gronów). About 60 participants formed the audience of five invited lectures

H. Kierstead (Tempe, USA) Competitive graph coloring,

D.F. Rall (Greenville, USA) Domination and independence in graph products,

I. Schiermeyer (Frieberg, Germany) Ramsey and rainbow colourings,

Z. Skupień (Kraków, Poland) Trees with numerous extremal subforests,

Zs. Tuza (Budapest, Hungary) On the structure of dominating subgraphs

and 31 contributed talks.

The papers included in this special issue were refereed according to the standards of DMGT. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the authors for their valuable contributions, the anonymous referees and Guest Editors for their commitment and dedication.

For and on behalf of the Organizing Commitee
